Central Asia Regional STEM and EFL Conference: a focus on cooperation and collaboration

From 20 to 22 April 2018 in the city of Almaty was held the Central Asia Regional STEM and English as a Foreign Language Conference for teachers in natural Sciences and English language. The conference was devoted to familiarizing teachers with the directions of teaching subjects in English and methods of teaching English as a second language, creating a platform for sharing experiences with colleagues from Central Asian countries.

English teachers from the United States, currently working in various universities in Central Asia attended the conference. The rich program of seminars, informative presentations and reports allowed the participants to expand their skills in conducting lessons using active techniques. Graduates of programs, projects from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and colleagues from our republic with inspiration presented the results of fruitful work, shared their impressions about the introduction of educational projects in the educational process.

Dr. Timothy Collins, Regional English Language Officer, U.S. Embassy Astana, stressed in his speech that participation in the proposed projects will undoubtedly expand the horizons of English language teaching and helps to implement the policy of trilingualism, which is one of the priorities set by Elbasy N. Nazarbayev.

The atmosphere of creative ideas, active interaction made it possible to fully realize the relevance and necessity of qualitative changes taking place in education.
